Why we carry it
We sell the software we work with ourselves.
smartmod has been repairing and recovering in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen since 2002. For authorities and law enforcement we work forensically at chip level — particularly on iPhone, iPad and Mac, where standard tools reach their limits. Passware is one tool in that chain, not a replacement for it: no software reads data from a memory chip that no longer responds. That is exactly where our work begins.

You get the licence with its activation details. We come back to you before it expires — so updates do not stop in the middle of a case.
What we do not promise
Decryption is not the push of a button.
Passware is strong wherever a key exists somewhere: in memory, in a hibernation file, in a keychain, in a TPM. Where none of that applies and only a long, good password stands in the way, compute time decides — that can mean weeks, or no result at all. Anyone who promises you a success rate before knowing the case is selling you something. We tell you before you buy what is realistic.

Who is allowed to buy Passware?
Passware supplies the forensic editions to law enforcement, government organisations and companies with a justifiable business need — forensic firms or corporate investigation teams, for example. Individuals are not supplied. We clarify which evidence suffices before quoting.
Which edition do I need?
If it is only about computers and drives, Kit Forensic is enough. Once smartphones are involved, Kit Ultimate is the way — it contains Kit Mobile and the device decryption. If you simply need access to your own company files, Kit Business will do. Describe the case and we will recommend the smallest edition that fits.
Why is there no price on this page?
Because the price depends on edition, term and quantity, and manufacturer prices change. You receive a quote in euros, net of VAT — usually the same or the next working day.
How long does a licence run?
The professional editions come as one-year or three-year licences with software updates included. The exact term and update period for your edition are set out in the quote.
Do I need special hardware?
Passware uses NVIDIA, AMD and Intel Arc graphics cards for acceleration and can spread the work across several machines on your network as well as Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure. What makes sense in your case we discuss before the purchase — an extra graphics card often buys more than the larger edition.
Can you carry out the examination for us?
Yes. We work forensically at chip level for authorities and law enforcement, particularly on iPhone, iPad and Mac — in our own clean room in Frankfurt, with nothing outsourced. Talk to us if you would rather hand the case over than run it yourself.
And if the device no longer starts at all?
Then no software helps. We take the data directly off the memory chip, even from severely damaged devices — only after that is there anything left to decrypt.
Do I get an invoice for procurement?
Yes. The contracting party is smartmod GmbH in Frankfurt am Main; government and corporate customers order on account and receive all documents for the procurement file.
