Why the construction type decides the route
SanDisk covers three very different designs. A SATA or NVMe SSD is electronics work on the controller and the power supply. A classic SD or CF card has controller and memory separate on a small board. A microSD, by contrast, is a single potted package — there is nothing to desolder, and access has to be established via exposed contact points. Which of the three worlds you are in decides the effort and the duration, not the brand name.
Miniaturisation as the real difficulty
The smaller the design, the less room for contact pads and the more sensitive the solder joints. An Extreme Portable drive that is no longer recognised after a drop often has no memory damage at all but a broken connection — visible only under the microscope.
Encryption from the factory
On many current models the controller encrypts everything that is stored — regardless of the user’s settings. The key is created in the controller and never leaves it. The memory chip alone then yields nothing but ciphertext, and the route necessarily goes through reviving the original electronics.

Where even we reach a limit
We are not a contractual partner of SanDisk, and this page claims no manufacturer partnership. It only says which designs we work on.
Deleted on a running SSD
What the operating system reported as free, the controller clears in the background. Afterwards the memory returns nothing but zeros.
Destroyed controller on an encrypted model
If the original electronics cannot be revived, the content stays unreadable.
Physically destroyed memory chip
After breakage, fire or an electrical surge there is no carrier left to read from.

What does data recovery cost?
We work with transparent fixed prices based on the fault pattern — depending on the medium from €99, €299 or €499; in cases of total damage individually. Before every recovery you receive a written quote and decide freely whether we continue.
Do I pay even if no data is recovered?
The Economy diagnosis is free — if you decline afterwards, no costs arise. With Standard and Emergency the diagnostic fee (€99 or €249) applies even if you decline; it is not offset against a later recovery. The recovery itself is only charged after your approval.
How long does it take?
Depending on the tariff, the diagnosis takes about 5 working days (Economy), 2 working days (Standard) or one working day (Emergency) — with Emergency, the same working day if the medium arrives before 12 noon. How long the recovery itself takes depends on the fault pattern and is stated in the quote.
Is my data safe with you?
Yes. We work in line with the GDPR, pass nothing on to third parties and never outsource. Your data is stored exclusively on our encrypted server and completely deleted after handover.
Can I send the medium in?
Yes. Shipping both ways is included in every diagnosis tariff; with Standard and Emergency we collect the medium from you. Or you come to our lab in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen without an appointment.
Are you an authorised SanDisk partner?
No, and we do not claim to be anywhere. We work on SanDisk media because they are widespread and we know their designs — there is no official partnership.
My Extreme Portable is no longer recognised after a drop. Is the memory gone?
Usually not. With compact drives, a drop typically affects a solder joint or a component, not the memory. The diagnosis under the microscope shows which it is.
My microSD only shows a few megabytes.
A familiar picture: the controller no longer recognises the memory chip and falls back on a default value. The content is usually untouched — please do not format under any circumstances.
